Three budding cyclists have been selected for the 2018 School Games, which begin at Loughborough University on Thursday.
Freya Richardson, 16, Samuel Freeman, 15, and Matthew Hickman, 14, will follow in the footsteps of some of Britain’s biggest sporting stars, such as swimmer Adam Peaty and heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, in competing in the national multi-sport event.
Richardson, who studies at Springfield Secondary School, represents the Portsmouth North End club.
Freeman attends Miltoncross Academy and races for Solent Pirates.
And Cams Hill School student Hickman, who hails from Fareham, is a member of the Portsmouth-based i-Team club.
More than 1,400 athletes will compete across 11 sports, five of which include disability disciplines, at the School Games.
They will experience high-level competition and perform in front of huge crowds.
