Apsley comfortably move into second round of Challenge CupÂ

Apsley House moved into the second round of the Challenge Cup with a 6-3 victory over Harvest Home.

The Portsmouth Winter League division two side took a 3-0 lead over their division five opponents thanks to Craig McCutcheon, Graham Wheatley and Tom Debowski.

David Churcher got Harvest off the mark before Malitk Mizialkowski and Gareth Rees took the next two ties to give Apsley an unassailable lead.

Paul Henty and Ben Mowett took consolation legs for Harvest before Colin Burton added a sixth for Apsley.

Pelham Arms were another second-tier side to progress into the next stage as they overcame division four's Rutland Arms 5-4.

Sam Malone and Barry Longhurst both gave Rutland early leads but each time Pelham immediately cancelled them out through Pete Huntley and Darren Mannell.

Pelham wasted no further time in securing victory as Tom Stillwell, Ben Rowley and Steve Greenwood took the next three legs to win the match.

Adrian Jones and Ian Sprake won the last two legs as consolations for Rutland.

Mike Feaver and Darren Barnes both threw 18-dart legs for Lord Chichester B as they beat Phoenix North End B 7-2.

Despite a 16-dart leg from Jon Bramble his Shearer Arms side lost 5-4 to Druids Arms A.
