admiral drake B reached the final of the Portsmouth Men’s League Challenge Cup with an 8-1 win over Jolly Taxpayer B.
Gary Collis, Gareth Evans, Bill Sturgess, James Brooker, Barry Stevens and Sam Head all registered wins as the top-flight side proved too strong for their division C rivals.
Taxpayers’ Ray Priseman prevented a whitewashing before Steve Musson and P Girvin struck for Drake.
Lord Chichester came from behind to beat Phoenix Public Bar A 7-2 and book their place in the final.
Mark Wilson and A Deluchi put Phoenix 2-0 up but wins from Steve Todd, Pete Curtis, Lee Todd, Ray Williams, Bob Rice, Terry Dugan and Pat Reed put Chichester in the final.
It was also a bad day at the office for Phoenix Public Bar B, in the plate semi-final, as they crashed 7-2 to Artillery Arms.
Phoenix’s Lee Cook took the opener before five on the trot from John Cooper, Lee Davies, Paul Richardson, Steve Woodage and Graham Davies handed Artillery the match.
Jim West took a consolation for Phoenix and Artillery won the last two through Austin Main and a walkover for Jim Adams.
Duke of Devonshire will face Artillery in the final after they won 6-3 against Baffins from division E.
Len Eastland, Paul Simmonds and Keith Goodall gave Duke a 3-0 lead before Brian Breadner got Baffins off the mark.
Duke moved into the final as Pete McKeon and Harry Rogers struck.
Ken Journeaux and Ian McNiven fired consolations for Baffins either side of Robbie Blake making it six.
