Fawcett Inn moved within four points of the top of Portsmouth Men’s Summer League division D after triumphing 6-3 over Harvest Home.

They closed the gap to leaders Eldon Arms, who went down 5-4 to Clarence Gardens – their first loss of the season.

Stephen Goodeve and Terry Brown put Fawcett 2-1 up with legs either side of a Harvest win from John Major, who scored 180.

Harvest then took the lead as Craig Bridgewater checked out on 115 and David Place Jnr took the following tie.

But it was one-way traffic from then on as Fawcett took the remaining clashes with Luke Smith, John Dungworth and Josh Olden on target.

Olden hit a 127 finish and there was a walkover for Tom Morley.

Pickwick wasted no time in bagging the points as they rattled off five sets on the trot – courtesy of Phil Rudder, Phil Searley, Malcolm Ogden, Allen Lloyd and Vic Smith.

Rose’s Neil Sheppard and Ian Pearce restored some pride before Julian Court added Pickwick’s sixth. Lee Smith took the final set as a consolation.

Jolly Taxpayer B dropped to second-place in division B after suffering a 5-3 defeat at the hands of Graham Arms A.

Mark Ford gave Taxpayer the lead but Graham were soon in front thanks to Allen Watson and Rob Knowles.

Ray Priseman restored parity for but it was to no avail as John Whitney, Martin Simmons and Allen Duffin gave Graham an insurmountable lead.

David Gough took a consolation for Taxpayer and the last leg was void.

Oyster House B pulled themselves out of division C’s bottom two with a 6-3 triumph over Tap.

Mervin Keen and Dennis Hatherley put them 2-0 up before Grant McKnight got Tap off the mark. Oyster soon regained control with Frank Butcher, Malcolm Smith, David Hatherley and Graham Keen firing them to victory.

Bill Taylor and Andrew Phipps took late consolations for Tap with Taylor notching a 180 and 18-dart leg.

Ricky Williams (Admiral Drake B) threw 14 and 16-dart legs with a 180 and Steve Filby (Newcome Arms A) had a 15-darter and 131 game-shot.

Danny Smith (Admiral Drake B) notched a pair of 17-dart efforts and Del Thomson (Newcome Arms A) also finished a leg in 17 darts.

Vince Aston (Phoenix North End B), Andy Newcombe (Jolly Taxpayer C), Gary Collis, Charlie Jackson (both Admiral Drake B) and Steve Woodage (Artillery Arms) all had 18-darters.

Dave Paul (Old House at Home B) hit a 105 check-out and Kevin Gilchrist (Newcome Arms A), Derek Manchip (Artillery Arms), Liam Jafkins (Mr Pickwick B), Adam Lipscombe (Admiral Drake B) and Keith Sault (Lord Chichester A) all fired in maximums.
