Duke on the money as Taxpayer crash again

Harvest Home pulled two points clear of Portsmouth Men’s Winter League division B’s relegation zone as they dispatched bottom-placed Battle of Minden B 5-4.

Minden twice took early leads, thanks to a win from Ray Shaw and walkover for Roger Ward, but Harvest immediately levelled each time through Adrian Matthews and then Phillip Freeston.

Phil Mercer put Harvest ahead for the first time but Barry Porter restored parity for Minden.

A walkover for Sam Palmer put Harvest on the brink of victory and Dave Stewart sealed it.

The last leg went to Minden’s Arthur Morey as a walkover.

Jolly Taxpayer B gained valuable points in the division C relegation battle as they beat British Queen 5-4.

Ray Priseman, Dave Andrews and Anthony Turner put Taxpayer 3-1 up, with only Steve Leigh able to register an early response from Queen.

Walkovers for Ian Smith and Andy Healey got Queen back into the match, while a win from Dave Gough put Taxpayer 4-3 up.

Queen’s Richard Place won to force a decider which Thomas Money took for Taxpayer.

Raven moved level on points with Artillery Arms B in division D after beating them 5-4.

Graham Keen took the opener for Artillery but they were soon 4-1 down as John Garnett, Ken O’Hara, Ray Smith and Paul Marsh struck for Raven.

An 18-dart leg from Malcolm Smith kept Artillery in the match but it was only a brief reprieve as Lee Simmons bagged the points for Raven.

David Hatherley snr and Lee Lamkin snr took consolations for Artillery – the latter notching a 113 finish.

Division D’s bottom two went head-to-head and it was Barley Mow who emerged victorious beating Tap A 6-3.

Fred Stevens, George Watson and Paul Harris gave Mow a 3-1 lead after Graham Clow had opened proceedings for Tap.

Gary Ramshead halved Tap’s deficit but Rae Lawson and Derek Lendrum ensured Mow’s triumph with the next two legs.

Mark North won a consolation leg for Tap before Don Bromhead added Mow’s sixth.

Painters Arms stay rooted to the foot of division F after going down 7-2 to Fawcett Inn.

Fawcett struck first through Tim Brosnan but Jack Voller hit straight back for Painters.

Ronny Morley and Tom Morley put Painters in the driving seat and, although Brad Murrant doubled Painters tally John Dungworth, Jason Appleton and Adam Dungworth secured the points for Fawcett.

A walkover for Anthony Goodeve capped the victory.

Mr Pickwick A pulled away from division A’s relegation zone with a 5-4 triumph over Phoenix North End B.

Pickwick had to come from behind after Jamie Stewart and Vince Aston put Phoenix 2-0 up.

Aaron Wood and Connor Hurry pulled Pickwick level but Phoenix restored their two-set advantage courtesy of Lee Smith and Lee Todd.

Vic Smith started Pickwick’s fightback with a 15-darter and 180 and Dave Kattenhorn made it 4-4.

Phoenix’s Dan Eade scored 180 in the decider but it wasn’t enough to stop Paul Easterbrook clinching the win for Pickwick.

Chris Jafkins (Mr Pickwick B) recorded a 15-dart leg, while Sam Head (Admiral Drake B) threw a 16-darter and 180 and his team-mate John Bramble finished games in 16 and 18 darts.

James Brooker (Admiral Drake B) registered 17 and 18-dart legs with a 148 finish, while Ricky Williams (Admiral Drake B), Steve Woodage (Artillery Arms A) and Barry Gibson (Meon Valley) also had 18-darters with Gibson scoring 180.

Lee O’Donovan (Mr Pickwick B) checked out on 120 and Kevin Mills (Jolly Taxpayer C) finished on 109.

Roy Sands and Andrew Smith (both Stag A) fired in maximums, while Barry Longhurst (Old House at Home A) scored 174 and Mick Byrne (Jameson) registered a 171.
