Phoenix North End B cemented their fourth place in Portsmouth Men’s Summer League division A with a 6-3 triumph over Old House at Home B.

Andy Shaw, Les Rance and Steve Todd all gave Phoenix the lead.

But each time Old House hit straight back with Dave Smith, Dave Paul – 180 – and Brian Croucher all on the mark.

However, that was all Old House could muster with Lee Smith, Jamie Stewart and Vince Aston giving Phoenix a clean sweep of the last three sets to bag the points.

Newcome Arms B took advantage of a depleted Oyster House A side to beat them 5-4 in division B.

Sean Hickley and Steve Wood gave Newcome a 2-1 lead with legs either side of a win from Chris Cobb Jnr.

Newcome were given the next leg as a walkover for Tony Small and a win from Alex Adams then put them on the brink of victory.

Chris Cobb Snr kept Oyster in the match but it was to no avail as Gary Tobitt took the next leg to seal victory for Newcome.

Oyster made the scoreline more respectable with late wins from Jon MacDonald and Dave Harrison.

Baffins came from behind to win a deciding leg and beat Old House at Home C 5-4 in division C.

Old House took the initial lead courtesy of Mark Brooks Jnr and David Lock, who scored 171.

But Baffins were soon in control as Ian Bates, Fred Fuggle, Vic Wain and Mick Chandler all notched wins.

Jason Appleton and Mark Standen restored parity, only for Baffins’ Piers Howorth to clinched victory.

Clarence Gardens enjoyed a convincing 7-2 triumph against The Royal in division D.

Clarence immediately took control with Dan Shambrook, Nick Hatherley, Lee Robertson and Michael G Bowbrick all winning.

Royal’s Ron Waters prevented a whitewash but Ken Brown, Tony Bell and Aaron Shambrook took the next three ties to give Clarence an insurmountable lead. Sam Palmer took the last leg as a consolation for Royal.

Darren Barnes (Newcome Arms A) threw 16 and 18-dart legs and a 104 game-shot, while Darrell Manchip (Newcome Arms A), Vic Smith and Phil Searley (both Mr Pickwick A) all notched 17-darters.

David Place Jnr (Harvest Home) and Chris Harradine (Rose & June B) both fired in maximums.

n Newcome Arms A’s Dean Jones, Darrell Manchip, Darren Barnes and Steve Filby claimed the fours crown with a 2-0 victory over Jolly Taxpayer C’s Steve Ockendon, Kevin Mills, Anthony Quintavalle and Andy Newcombe in the final.

On their way to the final, Newcome won their semi 2-0 against Stag A’s Colin Prout, Duncan Cope, Joe Bridle and Mick Neilson.

Taxpayer beat Phoenix North End C’s Lee Smith, Lee Todd, Steve Todd and Craig McEwan by the same margin.
