MR PICKWICK B cemented their position in division A’s top three with a 5-4 triumph over Phoenix North End B.

Chris Jafkins got the ball rolling for Pickwick with a 121 game-shot but Phoenix then gained the lead thanks to Jamie Stewart and Tim Hope.

Pickwick regained the lead as Barry Gibson and Paul La Roche were on the mark and, despite a Phoenix win from Ivan Gicquel, sets from Liam Jafkins – 180 – and Lee O’Donovan gave Pickwick the match.

Vince Aston took a late consolation for Phoenix, registering 15 and 17-dart legs along with a 180 and 101 finish.

Oyster House A resisted a fightback from Old House at Home A as they beat them 5-4 in division B.

Scott Tucker, Dave Harrison, Chris Cobb jnr and Jon Macdonald powered Oyster into a commanding lead.

But Old House battled back with Derek Sutton, Adrian Jones, Les Stallard and Peter Neale all holding their nerve to restore parity.

Oyster’s Danny Wheeler took the decisive last leg to win the match.

Portland Arms stay in division C’s promotion places thanks to a 5-4 victory against Raven.

Glenn Bremner gave Raven the initial lead before Rob Griffin, Julian Whelan, Dave Stewart and Keith Mayne put Portland 4-1 up.

Raven pulled level as Jerry Goddard, Allen Gaymer and Lee Simmons forced a decider which Liam O’Driscoll won for Portland.

Stag B took advantage of a depleted Phoenix Southsea side as they beat them 5-4.

Aaron Thomas, Tom Jeffery, Steve Clarke and Dion Jukes gave Stag a 4-1 lead with only Mick Mulley able to muster any early resistance from Phoenix.

A 115 game-shot by Nick Rizzuto put Phoenix back on track and they followed it up with victories from David Tait and Rob Pithers, making it 4-4.

However Phoenix’s revival was to no avail as they awarded the last clash to Stag’s Mick Jukes as a walkover.

Shane Filleul (Newcome Arms A) threw 14 and 15-dart legs while Danny Smith (Admiral Drake B) and Sam Palmer (Shearer Arms) recorded 16-darters.

Paul Richmond (Newcome Arms A) had a 17-dart effort and Dan Eade (Mr Pickwick A), Laurie Clark (Old House at Home B) and Andy Newcombe (Jolly Taxpayer C) all finished legs in 18 darts with Eade scoring 180.

Paul Miller (Star & Garter) checked out on 146 and Colin McKean (Old House at Home B), Ray Williams (Lord Chichester A) and Ray Marsh (Druids Arms A) all fired in maximums.
