Baffins clinched a 5-4 victory over Rose in June A with a deciding leg win to pull away from the Portsmouth Men’s Summer League division C relegation zone.

Ian Bates took the opening leg for Baffins but they were soon trailing as Paul Saynor and Brad Lennox were on the mark for Rose.

Mick Chandler, Vic Wain and Fred Fuggle then hit back to edge their side 3-2 in front.

Ian Saynor and Dave Lennox kept Rose in the match as they made it 4-4.

But it was Baffins’ Dale Stockwell who took the crucial leg to bag the points.

Eldon Arms maintained their fine form at the head of division D after a 5-4 triumph over Phoenix Southsea preserved their undefeated record.

Sam Damarell and Jon Davison gave Eldon a 2-1 lead, after Steve Jackson won the opener.

Phoenix regained the advantage through David Bishop and John Lloyd, only for Ian Mitchell and Michael Chandler to take the next two legs and put Eldon within a leg of victory.

Phoenix’s Michael Mulvey notched a win to force a decider but Steve Hartill held his nerve to seal success for Eldon.

Old House at Home B are four points clear of Stag A and division A’s relegation zone after coming from behind to dispatch them 5-4.

Stag took the early lead through Joe Bridle and Paul Emeney but Colin McKean – with a 17-dart leg – and Laurie Clark won sets to restore parity.

Mick Neilson and Mark Smith – another to notch a 17-dart leg – moved Stag 4-2 up.

But that was all they could muster as Ken Dean, Kyle McManus and Dave Paul reeled off three sets on the trot to sweep Old House to victory.

Old House at Home A rose out of division B’s bottom two with a 5-4 triumph over promotion-chasing Froddington Arms.

Louis Arnell opened proceedings, only for Les Stallard and Gary Bartlett to move Old House 2-1 up.

Froddington resumed control as Dave Lock and Alan Graf took legs, but James Comerford then evened it up at 3-3.

Mick Pearce gave Froddington the lead for the third time but it was to no avail as Old House clinched the win with a 103 game-shot by Peter Neale and a walkover for Barry Longhurst.

Steve Filby (Newcome Arms A) threw a 13-dart leg and 180, while Jon Bramble (Admiral Drake B) registered 15 and 16-darters and a 111 finish.

Del Thomson (Newcome Arms A) notched a pair of 17-dart efforts and Paul Haines (Lord Chichester B) also finished a leg in 17 darts.

Meanwhile, Darren Barnes and Dean Jones (both Newcome Arms A) both had 18-dart legs with Jones checking out on 106.

Richard Platt (Mermaid) hit a 156 game-shot, Kevin Mills (Jolly Taxpayer C) and Pete Curtis (Lord Chichester A) checked out on 147 and 146 respectively, and Vince Aston (Phoenix North End B) finished on 106.

Charlie Jackson, Danny Smith (both Admiral Drake B), Derek Manchip (Artillery Arms), Dave Patourel (Lord Chichester B), Lee O’Donovan, Barry Gibson and Liam Jafkins (all Mr Pickwick B) all fired in maximums.
