Thatchers pulled themselves out of Portsmouth Men’s Summer League division D’s bottom two with a 5-4 victory over basement-side Barley Mow.

Daniel Paddon and Raymond Houlihan gave Thatchers a 2-0 lead before Mow’s Rae Lawson and David Plaiter restored parity.

Thatchers regained the lead through Gary Ramshead but Mow then seized the initiative as Peter Roberts and Andrew Lawson moved them 4-3 up.

But it was to no avail as Mark North and Nick Wild won the remaining ties to give the points to Thatchers.
