Dave Robbins joins 250 milestone club in style at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun

He was joined by a big group of friends for his impressive milestone celebration at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun.

Fittingly he sported a stylish superhero outfit.

His time was 22.39 and he was paced around the course by Portsmouth Joggers club-mate George Garratt. 

Also he unveiled an impressive cake to share at the finish.

The celebrations boosted the turnout for the 131st event with a great total of 334 people completing the course at Lakeside North Harbour.

This was the third largest number of finishers since the parkrun started at the venue on April 30, 2016.

Both the first two finishers on Saturday got new personal bests.

Havant's Craig Berryman ran an impressive 17.09 and City of Portsmouth's Matt Smith was next in 17.53.

So many quick times were recorded with good conditions on Saturday.

Beth Pirie and Ian Gregory continued their excellent form with new personal bests of 23.10 and 23.14 respectively.

Ian Jones ran 22.59 and Russell Tullett finished in 23.01.

Liss Runner John Collis beat his course best with a time of 20.19.

Romanie Hannah finished first lady and she ran 20.33, finishing ahead of Jackie Lloyd (20.41).

Victory had a good turnout with third lady Hannah Lowry (21.07) and fourth lady Jo Gilholm (21.23) both getting personal bests.

Nicky Thomas, of Portsmouth Joggers, paced her run well as she finished fifth lady, beating her course best with a time of 21.30.

Denmead's Tillie Johnston ran 21.34 as she finished sixth lady with Sam Blackledge having a good run to finish in 21.54.

Robin Hogan completed his 50th parkrun and it was his first run at the Lakeside event.

All the volunteers ensured everything went smoothly in the morning and they supported all the people taking part around the course.

It was nice weather for the 5k, a bit warmer than other days recently with sunshine adding to the occasion.

Chris Tildesley led the way at Southsea parkrun with 358 finishers completing the promenade 5k.

Hayley Newell finished first lady. 

Arthur Marshman and John Dalgleish both completed their 100th parkruns.

Conditions were tough with a really strong sea breeze to contend with during the second half of the course.

It certainly made for some quick times out to the turn point but not many negative splits.
