Davies leads the charge for Fareham Nomads

JESS DAVIES won four gold medals and picked up one silver as Fareham Nomads youngsters impressed at the Bournemouth Open Meet.

Davies was in imperious form as she won the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke events.

She also finished first in the 50m freestyle and silver in the 100m freestyle.

Davies led a great club effort on the day and head coach Stewart Crowe was delighted.

He said: ‘We had 20 members of the club competing and returned with medals, top swimmer awards and personal best times.

‘The meet attracted swimmers from more than 30 clubs, so it provided good competition for us.’

Chris Finch showed his class for Nomads as he grabbed three gold medals and also one silver.

Finch beat former Nomads member Seb Williams to secure 100m freestyle gold in a time of 53.61sec.

He added to that with wins in the 400m freestyle and 400m individual medley.

He finished off the competition with a silver medal in the 50m freestyle.

Both Davies and Finch earned top-swimmer-of-the-meet awards for their excellent efforts.

Hannah Cooper sealed a medal in each of her three races – silvers in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and a bronze in the 50m.

Clive Marquis set a new personal best of 1.06.96 on his way to winning gold in the 100m individual medley.

He also picked up two bronze medals in the 100m and 200m freestyle.

Aiden Phillips earned a bronze medal in the 50m butterfly, and also set a new personal best of 2.18.06 in the 200m backstroke.

Ellen Jewell, 11, showed her great potential as she got bronze medals in the 50m and 100m butterfly, racing against older swimmers.

Michael Andrews gained double bronze in the 50m and 100m backstroke, with both medals in personal best times.

Oliver Bulpett and Christian Price completed the club’s medal haul.

Also in action for Nomads were Evie Rowsell, Tom Dickson, Cillian Ross, Beatrice Hollands, Alex Finch, Anna Ross, Matthew Sullivan and Maddy Thompson.
