Ellie Harding delighted to link up with England RosesÂ

Ellie Harding has been selected for England Roses under-17 academy.

The talented 16-year-old, from Fareham, plays for Weston Park Blades and is showing great potential.

It is a great boost to now be involved with the national set-up as well.

She said: '˜This is an amazing opportunity, I'm so excited to be part of the Roses Academy.'

Weston Park Blades are based in Winchester and are a high-performance club side.

They develop many talented netballers who go on to reach international level.

As well as the England call, Ellie has also been re-selected for the Surrey Storm under-19 side.

She plays in a variety of positions '“  wing defence, goal defence, goal keeper or centre.

She was captain of the under-16 Weston Park Blades team who went all the way to the national finals in April. Also she featured in some Viper 10 Blades premier league one matches last season.

Ellie is also supported with the Hampshire Talented Athlete Scheme (HTAS). She is a student at Barton Peveril College.

Weston Park Blades head coach Jan Crabtree has seen a number of her players called up to the national squad in various different age groups.

She said: '˜We're all so proud of our England players. It's a testament to all the dedication and hard work that these players put into their netball.

'˜We encourage all our players to be part of the England pathway and aspire to compete at the highest levels they can achieve.'

The Viper 10 Blades, finished last season as runners-up in the National Premier League division one, making Blades the second best amateur club nationally.

Also the club's under-16 and under-14 teams both qualified for their national finals during the campaign.

Blades are keen to increase the number of players particularly in the younger age groups, and to develop an offering for players aged six to 10.

The club are also keen to run regular drop in sessions on Saturday mornings for players to simply turn-up, train and play.

They play home matches in the Sports Hall at Sparsholt College, providing a high standard of netball.
