A superb show from four fantastic Fareham Rhinos saw them help inspire Team UK to European Youth Championship success in Milan.
In total for the event the Rhinos supplied 11 players across the competitions for the boys and the girls.
Ranked as outsiders in the m15 age category the UK girls quickly began to establish themselves as the form team.
Alexandra Wolfe, UK Captain and team-mates Summer Spriggs, Megan Hall and Abi Everitt all aged 14, performed well. They coped well with the humidity and high temperatures exceeding 30 degrees.
They were rewarded with a place in the final against the well organised and passionate Hungarian team.
The enormity of the match and fervent support from spectators from both nations seemed to have affected the girls with the Hungarians taking a rapid three point lead.
But then the Fareham talents helped the UK quickly rally.
They ended the first third with a two-point lead and went on to celebrate a superb 33-20 success.
The maturity and composure of the UK team prevailed.
They were boosted by great support from the Lions Club Fareham who sponsored the kit.
The other UK teams impressed as well with the m15 boys reaching the semi-final.
Andy Wolfe, Fareham Rhinos Youth Development Manager and UK Coach said: ‘I am really proud of every player from Fareham Tchoukball Club who represented the UK.
‘They all performed above expectations and I was delighted to watch four of our girls winning the M15 Girls European Youth Tchoukball Championship.’
Tchoukball is the fastest hand ball sport in the world with unique characteristics. It is a sport that can be enjoyed from the age of 10 and by any level of ability.
Fareham Rhinos are continually open to new members to come to training, play in regional and national competitions and for some to realise the dream of representing their nation and even becoming European Champions.
