Fast times at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun

James Baker finished first on Saturday and he was just outside his fastest time at Portsmouth Lakeside parkrun.

He stopped the watch at 16min 03sec with his best for the course being 15.56.

Pete Collins, representing Portsmouth Joggers, finished in second place with a time of 17.22 and this was only a few seconds outside his course PB of 17.07.

Winchester’s Graham Bungay took third place after he was first at Havant parkun the previous Saturday.

George Sutherland and John Brimecome both set new personal bests for the Lakeside North Harbour event.

They finished sixth and seventh respectively with times of 18.52 and 19.08 respectively.

It was event number 43 and 186 people finished the 5k.

Louise Griffin, who runs for Portsmouth Joggers, finished first lady with a time of 22.06.

She has completed 10 parkruns and it was a new personal best, beating her previous time of 22.09 set in November 2016.

Nicky Thomas, also of Portsmouth Joggers, was second lady.

Havant Athletics Club’s Izabelle Cassap, age nine, had an excellent run as she smashed her personal best with a time of 24.31 and was third female finisher.

Jessica Brimecome also achieved a new personal best to finish fourth lady in 24.51.

It was a great event with 53 first timers, while many of the regulars celebrated with 37 course PBs.

Ellie Randall, Hazel Meldrum, Gary Seaman, Lisa Neale, Roy Dillon, Steve McLean and Bridget Main were among the runners to beat their previous best times.
