Over 200 tickets have already been snapped up for the Wessex League Premier Division games against Hamworthy United and Fareham Town - a month before the games are scheduled to be played.

Both are highly attractive fixtures - Hamworthy are top of the table while neighbours Fareham are third and enjoying their best Wessex season for many years.

With the season currently suspended due to the national Covid-19 lockdown, there is still uncertainty as to when the 2020/21 campaign will resume.

But, at present, Wessex games are scheduled for Tuesday, December 8, with Portchester travelling to Bouremouth and Fareham Town hosting Fleet.

US Portsmouth are also down to play that evening, at fellow Division 1 side Andover Town in the quarter finals of the Wessex League Cup.

The Royals are due to host Hamworthy on December 12 and Fareham Town on Boxing Day, with tasty local derbies at home to Baffins Milton Rovers (December 15) and Horndean (January 2) also on the fixture list during the first few weeks which could follow lockdown restrictions being lifted.

With pre-match hospitality packages already sold out for all four of those games, supporters wishing to attend any of the forthcoming matches at the Crest Finance Stadium are being advised to reserve their tickets as soon as possible.

And that applies especially for the Hamworthy and Fareham games as tickets are running out rapidly.

AFC Portchester chairman Paul Kelly said: ‘We have all been blown away by the phenomenal support we have been getting so far this season.

“And to have sold so many tickets this far in advance of matches in December, and with the uncertainty of Covid restrictions and lockdown as well, really is unbelievable.

“We are expecting the Hamworthy and Fareham games to be sold out in the next week or so, and I am sure the derbies against Baffins and Horndean will go the same way too.

‘The pre-match hospitality has sold out for the Hamworthy, Baffins, Fareham and Horndean games now.

‘We are expecting that to be the case for all home games this season as these packages are proving very popular with supporters.

‘I am so proud of the crowd numbers we have been getting this season, with our average attendance up around the 250 mark, and would like to thank everyone for their backing of the club.

‘The level of support, both home and away, makes a real difference to the players and everyone at the club. We all really appreciate it.’
