Pete Stiles wants Fareham Town to pick up six points ahead of the festive period.
The Reds host Tadley Calleva in the Wessex League premier division at Cams Alders on Saturday (3pm).
Fareham sit 13th in the table but they’re only five points above the bottom two.
With a busy period approaching, Stiles knows a small cluster of victories can boost his side’s league position.
And the manager feels a win over Tadley can give the Reds impetus going into Christmas.
‘It is all still very tight in our league,’ said Stiles.
‘A few wins or defeats can make a big difference to where you sit in the league.
‘In the next week we have got two league games and a cup tie.
‘I want to go into Christmas with six points and a place in the next round of the Portsmouth Senior Cup.
‘If we can do that then we can have a decent Christmas. Tadley will be tough and they beat us in the first game of the season.
‘They also drew with Sholing in midweek.
‘We will need to remain focused in order to make sure we put more points on the board.’
Stiles is hoping to have Shaun Benjamin and Ed Plackett back in contention.
Gary Austin and Scott Hamilton are unavailable, though, and Ash Tattersall injured.
