The 20-year-old Aston Villa talent missed out on a place in the matchday squad as the Blues were 2-1 victors at Scunthorpe in League One on Saturday.

That's despite Jackett revealing the attacker was fully fit and available for selection at Glanford Park.

The Pompey boss said: '˜Andre is 100 percent fit.

'˜It's going to be hard for him to break in after his injury, hard to break into the forward players on the bench that are ready and waiting for their chance as well.

'˜But Andre has looked good in training.

'˜When his opportunity comes in the coming weeks he has to be ready to take it, as all of those players outside of the first 11 need to.

'˜It's a learning one for Andre.

'˜He's been unfortunate with his injury in a time where the side has settled and done very well in his time out.'

It's been a frustrating stint for Green since he joined on a season-long loan in the summer.

The Solihull-born attacker had a cyst removed from his knee soon after arriving and has been restricted to just three Pompey appearances.

Jackett has plenty of attacking talent to choose from with Brett Pitman and David Wheeler preferred to Green on the substitutes' bench at Scunthorpe.

However, Pompey have a busy run of matches ahead kicking off with Tuesday's Walsall game and will need all the players to be ready when called on.
