Baffins Milton boss: ‘They should knock football on the head … there are bigger issues at stake’

Baffins Milton Rovers manager Steve Leigh insists the football season should be brought to a halt duo to the coronavirus outbreak.

His side have lost almost 20 games to the weather this season and on Saturday their game against Tadley Calleva was called off because of problems with the home club’s facilities.

As a result, Baffins still have 15 of their 38 Wessex League Premier Division games to play - more than any other club in the division.

Leigh feels the bigger picture has to be taken into consideration.

'They should knock football on the head for the foreseeable future,' he commented.

'There are bigger issues at stake.

'We have to wake up to the fact that it is going to get worse.

'Safety has to come first and everything else can be forgotten at the moment.

'In this situation clubs must support each other.

'At the moment we are preparing for our home game against Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

'Our pitch will be playable but whether the game gets played is another matter.

'That is a guessing game at the moment.'

The Wessex League are meeting on Monday night to decide what they do with forthcoming games.
