Borough recall King in bid to reign over Dartford

King has been recalled from his loan spell at Fleet Town after a long period on the sidelines with a cruciate ligament injury.

Borough boss Alex Pike is delighted to have him back in the fold ahead of an important week for his play-off chasing outfit.

‘Before he got injured, Luke was one of our most consistent players and can be very influential for us,’ said the Privett Park manager.

‘At 6ft 3in, he is a big presence and has been doing well in his loan spell with Fleet.

‘He can play at right-back, wide on the right or wide on the left.

‘This is a big week for us with home matches against two of our play-off chasing rivals.

‘It is a chance for us to put a bit of daylight between us and them.

‘Dartford will be a big test because they are top of the away form guide.

‘They have won five, drawn once and only lost one of their last seven games on the road.

‘At the same time we are top of the home form guide and have already beaten them at their place this season.’

Experienced defender Brett Poate is likely to be injured for at least another three weeks.

He aggravated a leg injury on the artificial surface at Maidstone.

Elsewhere, Horndean will aim to pull off a giant-killing as they travel to National League South Basingstoke Town in the quarter-finals of the Hampshire Senior Cup (7.45pm).

The winners will meet the Hawks in the semi-finals of the county competition.

‘I have no budget, so therefore can’t attract any players,’ said the Cams Alders boss.

‘With the fixture back log, very soon we will be playing four games a week until the end of the season.

‘That is a lot to ask with our small squad of 16 players.’
