Bradbury keen to have Hawks favourite back

Hawks boss Lee Bradbury admitted he's keen to have Wes Fogden back in his ranks.

The former Pompey attacking midfielder is currently out with a knee injury picked up in the televised victory against Aldershot and is expected to remain on the sidelines for the forseeable future.

Fogden's experience is vital as the Hawks continue to adapt to the demands of National League football.

That fact isn't lost on boss Bradbury, who is desperate to have an important member of his dressing room back and raring to go.

The Westleigh Park manager admitted: 'Wes has been a huge miss for us in the last couple of weeks.

'He is such an infectious player and always has a positive impact on the rest of the squad.

'His work-rate is obvious for all to see, but he also has great quality on the ball.

'Added to this you have his never-say-die attitude and ability to pop up with a goal for you.

'We can do with getting Foggy back as soon as possible.'

Just like Bradbury, Fogden is himself frustrated he's currently unable to assist the team in their National League efforts.

Despite making progress in his recovery, the former Bournemouth ace is not prepared to risk further damage to his knee by coming back too early.

And, in the meantime, he's been making some observations from the sidelines that will hopefully stand the team in good stead as the season progresses.

Fogden said: 'I hate missing a couple of minutes at the end of games let alone whole games.

'At the minute I am trying to do what I can to get back as quickly as possible.

'It happened against Aldershot, but it is getting better every day.

'It is frustrating because I think we have performed better than our results show.

'There aren't too many games I can think of where we haven't matched the opposition toe to toe.

'We haven't always got what we deserved from games and that is something that we have to learn.

'It is important that we limit our errors because we are coming up against better attacks.

'Players are quicker, stronger, faster and possess a lot more ability.

'Although we are a part-time team, I don't believe it is a handicap we can't overcome.

'We are not struggling for fitness or stamina and tend to come on strong at the end of games.

'It is more a mental thing than a physical one and making sure we keep our concentration.'

On Tuesday night the Hawks face a tough trip to Barnet, with Solihull Moors visiting Westleigh Park on Saturday.
