Carter warns Moneyfields players to keep their cool

When the two teams met at Dover Road earlier this season, Moneyfields had three players sent off in a 6-1 defeat.

The Copnor club had another three players dismissed in their disappointing 2-0 FA Vase exit at the hands of Bristol Manor Farm on Saturday.

Carter accepts his team need to be far more disciplined when they are facing adversity in matches.

He said: ‘Players have got to learn to keep their cool when things go against them.

‘Sometimes you have to accept things and get on with it.

‘We can’t afford a repeat of our poor discipline against Salisbury because that could end in another heavy defeat.

‘It is important we lick our wounds from the weekend and put in a good performance.

‘There is no time to feel sorry for ourselves because we need to start climbing the league.’

Carter admits playing for over an hour with nine men at the weekend has left some of his players exhausted.

Luckily the former Horndean boss has a big squad and has plenty of options to freshen things up.

Dan Woodward, Nathan Paxton, Gary Austin, Louie Martin, Jack Macfarlane and Gavin Spurway could all return to action.

Carter knows it will be a big task for his side.

‘Playing Salisbury at this time represents a huge test for us,’ said Carter.

‘We need a good performance to help get the Vase debacle out of our system.’

Totton & Eling and Horndean are due to stage their Hampshire Senior Cup tie at Little Testwood Farm (7.45pm).

A trip to National League South side Basingstoke Town awaits the winners in the quarter-finals.
