Cook pays tribute to Pompey Wall of Fame

Blues fans who helped keep the club alive will be honoured at midday, before the League Two clash with Hartlepool, by the official reveal of the Pompey Supporters’ Trust (PST) shareholder Wall of Fame.

The tribute, which is situated along the North Stand exterior wall, will detail the name of every shareholder who helped in the remarkable effort to save the club from extinction in April 2013.

Pompey president and PST board member, Eric Coleborn funded the project at his own personal expense.

And Blues boss Cook has thanked those who played their part in ensuring the club’s bright future.

He said: ‘This is such a great club, it is untrue.

‘Just look at the history of the club.

‘I think even now people should step back sometimes and pat themselves on the back – I’m not talking about the football side.

‘Look at the training ground and the facilities at Fratton Park – the hospitality lounges and match-day feel.

‘And then the support we get at home – chief executive Mark Catlin was telling me we will probably get 17,000 today.

‘The club has such a good future.

‘And the Wall of Fame is a great credit to everyone who has helped to play their part in that.’

Cook is determined to reward the Fratton faithful with promotion this term, with last weekend’s backing at Grimsby earning praise.

He added: ‘The support at Grimsby was fantastic.

‘To travel that far and for the players to come out to that welcome puts tingles in the back of your neck.

‘We know we have got to give these people what they want – that is so important.’
