Cook’s side wasted the chance to go into the top three of League Two today with a weak performance against Crewe.

The Blues failed to get a shot on target across 95 minutes of action on a bleak afternoon.

Cook kept his players in the dressing room for a lengthy inquest after the game.

And he pulled no punches about the quality of the display.

Cook said: ‘We have to be objective about the game.

‘We were second best at everything and to everything.

‘The better team on the day won.

People aren’t happy and I’m not happy.

‘The reality of football is you sometimes get flat performances - and you won’t get a flatter performance than that.

‘In my opinion we got what we deserved.’
