Coventry 3 Pompey 2: Gaffer For A Day
What were your thoughts on that?
We were decent in the first half and probably had the better of it but after that couldn’t get the ball.
Jodi Jones came on and they controlled it from then on, while we gave their wide players far too much space.

Hide AdCoventry put a full-strength side out and it probably showed a bit in the end.
They deserved the victory having been so lively in the second-half and extra-time.
Which player stood out for you the most?
Curtis Main was definitely my man of the match. He scored a good penalty and I thought did very well overall.
I didn’t see a lot of him in pre-season, certainly not near enough to get an accurate impression of what he can bring to the team.
I thought he would be more stocky, holding the ball up.

It was a really good display and I think he has a big part to play.
What did you make of Kal Naismith and his goal?
Well I didn’t see that coming. It was superb, well worth us having to stay for extra-time because of it!
I rate Naismith and it was a shame when he was told he had no future at the club.

Hide AdI’m really glad he has come back to score such a fantastic goal and would like him to remain.
He was unfortunate to get injured on the eve of last season having trained all summer, which set him back.
Are you fussed about being out of the EFL Cup?
Not really, the league is always the priority, especially this season.
I never want Pompey to lose but the FA Cup last year was quite a big distraction, it really got in the way.

Now we have got this cup competition out of the way.
