Coventry City boss confirms he remains interested in Portsmouth striker Conor Chaplin
Mark Robins remains hopeful Coventry City can sign Conor Chaplin before Friday's loan window closes.
The Sky Blues boss has confirmed he's still trying to land the striker he has '˜been looking for since day one of the pre-season.'
Chaplin has become frustrated at the failure to secure a move away from Pompey this summer.Â
The wantaway marksman did not travel to Doncaster for the Blues' 0-0 draw yesterday '“Â after telling manager Kenny Jackett he was not in the '˜right frame of mind' to feature at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Coventry and Barnsley have been long-time admirers of the Worthing talent.
And Robins is still keen to bring Chaplin on loan to the Ricoh Arena before the transfer window slams shut on Friday.
The Sky Blues manager told the Coventry Telegraph: '˜You know what we're looking for.
'˜We're looking for the one we have been looking for since day one of the pre-season.
'˜I think we might be able to do something but we are top end budget and we'd have to move people out.'
Speaking after Coventry's 1-1 draw at Gillingham yesterday, Robins admitted he did not know Chaplin failed to make the trip to Doncaster when told.Â
'˜Didn't he?!,' he added.
'˜Let's see. We have got few days.
'˜We are not going to do something for the sake of it but if there's something there that we can do and that the club can let me do, maybe we will.'
