Curtis hoping rampant Portsmouth form can earn him Republic of Ireland senior call-up

But the forward insists he's in no rush to be called-up to the senior squad.

Curtis is currently away with Ireland's under-21s for their European Under-21 Championship qualifiers against Kosovo and Germany.

He misses tonight's Checkatrade Trophy clash against Gillingham and Saturday's League One visit of Shrewsbury.

Curtis has made a whirlwind start at Fratton Park after arriving from Derry City in June.

The 22-year-old has scored five goals in six league appearances and registered three assists.

O'Neill will no doubt be aware of the impressive performances Curtis has been delivering.

But the south London-born ace is happy to bide his time and wait to be called-up to Ireland's senior squad.

Curtis told the Derry Journal: '˜Hopefully Martin O'Neill likes what he sees and calls me up eventually but I'm just enjoying my football.

'˜Regardless if he does or if he doesn't call me up, I'm in no rush.

'˜I'm just 22 years of age and that time will come hopefully.'

The Republic of Ireland under-21s are looking to bolster their chances of qualifying for the European Under-21 Championship in Italy and San Marino next year.

They sit second in Group Five on 13 points and their upcoming matches are against the teams directly below and above them in the table.

Noel King's side travel to third-placed Kosovo on Friday before they meet leaders Germany in Dublin a week today,

The second game against the reigning champions will be an extremely tough test.

Germany have a plethora of talent including Mahmoud Dahoud, who was purchased for a reported fee of £10m by Borussia Dortmund, and Hoffenheim midfielder Nadiem Amiri.

Nevertheless, Curtis will relish the battle.

He added: '˜Hopefully we get through with the under-21s. That's where I'm at right now.

'˜I'm really looking forward to the qualifiers and meeting up with the boys again.

'˜I haven't seen them for a couple of months so it will be good fun meeting up again. We've done so well recently and want to keep that form going and qualify.

'˜The Germany game at home is the biggest game of the year for me. Everyone wants to play the best teams  and we're looking forward to that one.'
