Damage done early on as Pompey Ladies beat West Ham
Perry Northeast’s side have now netted 21 goals in their past three matches.
Molly Clark, Leeta Rutherford and Ellie Bloomfield all scored in the first 25 minutes of the FA Premier League southern division contest.
West Ham fought hard in the second half.

Hide AdPompey were not as fluent but still added two more goals before conceding a late consolation.
Sarah Kempson took her tally to eight goals in the past two matches with a double to continue her brilliant form.
Blues manager Northeast saw his side play some very nice football in the first half of the match.
He wasn’t quite so happy with the display after the break.
‘Most of the damage was done in the first half,’ said Northeast.

Hide Ad‘We weren’t at our best in the second half and took our foot off the gas a little bit.
‘In the first half we played some excellent stuff.
‘The surface was quite tricky but the first-half performance was particularly pleasing on the eye.
‘The players were moving the ball around very well.
‘West Ham adapted and went a bit deeper in the second half.’
The quality of the goals scored provided a real highlight for Pompey.

Hide AdMidfielder Clark showed her ability with some excellent set-pieces.
Bloomfield then capped off a fine move for one of the best goals Pompey Ladies have scored this season.
Northeast added: ‘They were really good goals.
‘Molly Clark scored a superb free-kick into the bottom corner of the net to open the scoring.
‘I’m really happy with that one and really happy for her.
‘Leeta Rutherford met a Molly Clark delivery from a corner to score and that was brilliant.

Hide Ad‘Then Ellie scored a great goal as well. It was a wonderful team move.
‘I think every single player on the pitch touched the ball.
‘Ellie arrived in the box and scored with an excellent one-touch finish after Lucy Quinn put the ball in.
‘It was a special goal, certainly one of the best we have scored all season.’
Kempson’s two second-half goals ensured there would be no West Ham fightback.
Pompey are now third in the table, a point behind second-placed Charlton who have one game in hand.
