Top scorer from last season, Matty Andrews, has agreed on a return to his former club while versatile Jamie Winter has been recruited from Liss.

It adds to an already strong squad that is being assembled by boss Bessey at the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division outfit.

Fleetlands eased to a 4-0 home win over Hayling United last weekend with Kelvin Robinson hitting a hat-trick.

That win has given the whole squad huge confidence they can mount a challenge this season.

And with the addition of both Andrews and Winter, Bessey is excited to see what the squad can produce in the matches to come.

‘Matty scored 25 goals in 23 games for us last season,' said a delighted Bessey.

‘He left us to go to bigger and better things, going to Baffins Milton Rovers two leagues above.

'It didn’t work out for him, he then went to Petersfield and didn’t enjoy it there so now he’s come home.

‘For us, what a signing it is. He was our top goalscorer last year and we’ve starting scoring around the team and he’s available this Saturday.

‘It’s a really big signing for us as a club and we’re really pleased to have him back.

'Jamie is another who has come in.

‘We’ve been crying out for a left-footed left-back all season, pretty much all last year as well.

‘He’s a left-back but he can play centre-half.

‘We could have a top signing on our hands.’

Fleetlands moved up to seventh following the win over Hayling.

They also have at least a game in hand of five of the six teams above them in the table.

Winchester Castle provide the opposition on Saturday and Bessey is looking for Fleetlands to build on what has been a 'fanatstic' week for the club.

‘Adding Matty and Jamie after a week of winning 4-0 and going into a game this weekend is fantastic for the club,' said Bessey.

‘We also welcome back several players back from injury as well.

'We’re starting to slowly look at our strongest and that’s where we want to be.'
