The Dreadnoughts were triumphant in the reverse fixture on their Sussex travels, when they ran out hard-fought 20-14 victors.

And having completed the double over Maidstone Pumas in their other two successes this term, the Dreadnoughts are out to ensure a similar fate befalls their final opponents of an encouraging BAFA National League SFC 2 South campaign (2.30pm).

In their last two fixtures, the side have tasted both victory and defeat, and head coach Luke Head-Rapson is hoping to make it two wins out of three when they end the season at Havant Rugby Club.

He said: ‘I think we can get a win against Hastings.

‘If we play as well as we have in recent weeks and get the offence playing, we will be fine.

‘I feel pretty good and confident about the game because of how the defence have been performing – we were really good on that side of the ball.

‘The away game against them was closer than I would have liked.

‘Their offence is not the strongest in the league but they have a tough, strong defence.

‘I would like to say that we can win the game but we will have to see if they have made improvements since the last time we played them.’

In their most recent fixture, away to the Berkshire Renegades, the Dreadnoughts lost 23-0.

Head-Rapson is hoping the team can learn from their mistakes but also take confidence from their recent victory against Maidstone, where they won 28-0.

He added: ‘The defence can get the job done but the offence still need some work.

‘That is something we can look at in this game and next season, too.’

Tomorrow’s game with the Conquerors will also be used by the Dreadnoughts as a charity day.

The club is raising money for Action on Pre-Eclampsia – a charity which supports pregnant women and their families and friends through any worries surrounding the disease.
