Fareham school aim to continue flying flag for Hampshire in National CupÂ

Henry Cort Community College are out to continue flying the flag for Hampshire in the English Schools Football Association under-14s National Cup.Â

The Fareham outfit are the only school in the county that remain in the competition.

And they aim to extend their superb run in the National Cup when they host Charters School, in Dulwich, today.

The year nine team's 3-0 victory over Weydon School ensured they booked their spot in the fifth round of the competition. 

Elliott Simpson, Ben Evans and Tom Walter were all on target. 

Henry Cort overcame treacherous conditions to deliver a win against their Aldershot-based rivals.

The visitors made a brilliant start to the tie and took an early lead. A through ball split the Weydon defence and picked out Simpson, who calmly slotted his one-on-one effort into the bottom corner.

Things got better for Henry Cort as they doubled their advantage before half-time.

Max May free-kick picked out Evans and he volleyed home in style. 

The rain continued to pour in the second period '“ but that didn't stop the Hillson Drive side from increasing their advantage.

They continued to press their foot on the gas and Walter's goal sealed their superb win.

The PE teacher said: I am so proud of the boys; they were always in control despite the horrendous weather.  

'˜I am looking forward to seeing how far the boys can take this.'

Principal, Claudia Cubbage, added: '˜I am extremely proud of all the boys and their continued effort and hard work paid off with a much deserved win.'
