Paul Goddard's men are due to meet four divisions higher Moneys in a last-eight tie at Locks Heath on Wednesday (7.45pm).

Although it's an almighty task that awaits Denmead, they can take inspiration from dumping Wessex League Premier Division title hopefuls AFC Portchester out in the previous round.

But Moneyfields are expected to field a strong side - should the tie get the green light - given the Southern League is currently suspended because of the coronavirus.

The Dover Road outfit had been due to host Sholing in a league game on Tuesday.

Yet whatever team Dave Carter puts out, though, Goddard sees it as an ideal opportunity for his squad to showcase their ability against higher division opponents.

‘Once again, we’ve got nothing to fear and everything to gain,’ said the Denmead boss.

‘The same as we did against Portchester.

‘We’ll just be in the limelight and give it everything we’ve got.

‘They were due to be playing at home on Tuesday night.

‘Now that their league has been suspended they are willing and able to fulfill the fixture.

‘I’m thinking they’ll probably go as strong as they can, bearing in mind they’ll probably have two weeks out as well.

‘Obviously, the win against Portchester is the highlight of the season so far.

‘We’ve got absolutely nothing to fear and everything to gain in this fixture.’

The Hampshire Premier League Division 1 leaders had been due to meet second-placed Moneyfields Reserves in a top-of-the-table battle at the weekend.

However, that Dover Road clash was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

Goddard believes a positive result would have set them up nicely for a cup tie with potentially Moneys' first team.

‘It’s a shame we won’t have any momentum going into it, but never mind,’ he added.

‘We’re not scheduled to play until March 28 after this game so it gives me time to nurse back any injuries or anything we have from the game on Wednesday.’
