Former AFC Bournemouth pro Tom Dinsmore can put himself back in the ‘shop window’ at Moneyfields

Released AFC Bournemouth midfielder Tom Dinsmore has been told he has the perfect chance to put himself back in the 'shop window' at Moneyfields.

Boss Dave Carter insisted the 19-year-old could return to the professional game should he play a starring role at Dover Road in 2020/21.

Moneyfields have managed to attract the Portsmouth-based player following his Cherries release after spending seven years coming through the ranks at the Dorset club.

Dinsmore played youth football for Pickwick and won the Hampshire Schools’ Cup in his final year at Springfield School.

Dinsmore signed professional terms with Bournemouth last summer - after helping Cherries reach the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup, the club’s best run for 50 years - but is now looking to rebuild his career.

And Carter says his new signing, who he previously had on loan, has the potential to be a real standout in his side this season.

'Tom’s been at Bournemouth academy for the last seven years,' said the Moneyfields boss.

‘He was with us two-and-a-half years ago when he came on loan at 16.

‘He did okay when he came on loan but he’s come on leaps and bounds since then.

‘I watched him in a training game last week and he was very good.

‘Things are looking bright for him. He’s a holding midfielder and has a good range of passing.

‘If he’s got it about him and wants to get back in the pro game, doing well at our level puts himself in the shop window.

‘He should be pulling up trees for us.'

Carter has had a busy summer shaping what he hopes is a squad that can push for promotion.

Moneyfields had rotten luck with departures, injuries and bad weather before the 2019/20 Southern League Division 1 South campaign was brought to a premature end in March because of the coronavirus.

Having finished in the play-offs the previous year, Moneys never got going and were third bottom - having won only seven of their 25 league games - when the pandemic took a stranglehold on the sporting calendar.

Former Brighton and Swindon pro George Barker and fellow midfielder Marley Ridge - both recruited from higher level Gosport Borough - are two of the impressive additions Carter added during lockdown last month.

Most recently, attacker Kieron Roberts and versatile left-sided player Alex La Fleur have joined Dinsmore as new additions. All three also played at a higher level last term - the first two in the Southern League Premier South and the latter during a short loan at Isthmian League Premier outfit Bognor Regis.

Roberts is also a former Bournemouth trainee, returning from America - where he had been studying - to sign for Weymouth midway through the 2018/19 season. He was dual registered with Hamworthy United and scored four times in as many Wessex League games for them.

Roberts joined Wimborne Town last summer, scoring twice in six Southern Premier League South starts plus eight sub outings. He then signed for divisional rivals Blackfield & Langley in January of this year.

Lafleur signed for Gosport during the 2018/19 season having started his career in the Watford youth set-up before joining Luton Town. He also had a spell with Wealdstone and loan spells with Harrow Borough, Chalfont St Peter and Edgware Town.

He moved onto Salisbury last September.

The summer business has given Carter a reason to be optimistic.

'Kieron has been away in America for like five years,' he added.

‘He’s impressed in training, his finishing looks good and he’ll be a good addition to the squad.

‘Alex is another one stepping down a level to come to us.

‘He can play left-wing, left-back or as a wing-back so he’ll give us a good option down that left hand side.’
