Former Portsmouth striker believes Chaplin can thrive at Coventry

The ex-Pompey loanee feels Sky Blues boss Mark Robins will bring the best out of his former Fratton Park team-mate.

The striker has become frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities at Pompey and seeks a fresh start.

McNulty played alongside Chaplin when he was on loan at Fratton Park from Sheffield United during the 2016-17 campaign.

The Scot netted 28 goals for Coventry last season before departing for Championship outfit Reading earlier this summer.

Chaplin is the marksman Robins has identified to fill McNulty'˜s boots at the Sky Blues.

And McNulty has insisted the Worthing talent '“ who he remains in touch with '“ can be a hit at the Ricoh Arena. 

He told the Coventry Telegraph: '˜I worked with Conor at Portsmouth and have stayed in touch ever since!

'˜He's a great lad with an amazing attitude. He always wants to learn.

'˜He's a great all-round player that the fans will love!

'˜His work-rate is outstanding and I have no doubt he will bring goals to the team.
