Gaffer: Portsmouth still have room for improvement in League One title pursuit
Pompey fan Ian Eames, aged 43, from Hayling Island, gives his thoughts on the 2-0Â win against Walsall at Fratton Park.
So, that's five straight wins then.
It was a good game and we played really well, in fact putting those chances away could have put us five up by half time.
I was concerned how we started the second half, we switched off and Walsall should have scored, only for us to get our second minutes later.
It happened against Burton, we look a bit too relaxed after the interval.
You mentioned missed chances in your preview too.
I may seem a bit Jose Mourinho negative, but Oli Hawkins could do a lot better, he should win more balls, score more goals and be stronger all-round.
That is probably why my Hawkins rating is down compared to his team-mates.
The ability is there but he just needs to strengthen up and sharpen up, he seems to be two yards behind the action on thought process.
Who is your Pompey man of the match?
It's close between the Thompson pair, but I will give it to Nathan, he had a really good game.
The whole team worked really hard and had good distribution, so it's really hard to pick out one outstanding player.
It was a real team effort against a tricky Walsall. I could have named four or five of them '“ but Nathan Thompson just edges it.
I sense you still feel there is room for improvement?
We do need to be more clinical and score more goals.
No doubt we are playing very well as a team, the work-rate is good and we are efficient at getting into the box.
It's just that final shot and finishing teams off when we have the chance.
Perhaps we should bring someone in during the January transfer window who can finish those chances off.
