Between a variety of teams taking part in a variety of different activities and challenges, they have donated £3,792.

‘That figure will almost certainly end up being a lot more as donations are still coming in,’ said Chris Webb, manager of the club’s under-11 Black side.

The under-11 Greens have raised a superb £1,837 - mainly via a running challenge which saw players and parents run the equivalent distance of Gosport’s Privett Park to Liverpool’s Anfield stadium.

Webb’s under-11s raised £700, including his son Jimi raising a large amount via a sponsored charity head shave.

While Jimi’s efforts raised £250 towards the £3,792 figure, his dad estimates the final amount from the shave will top £350.

The Black sum also included £100 raised by the Gosport & Fareham district under-11 side that Webb also coaches.

Parents from teams across the youth section donated another £345, including a large sum from the under-9 Blues.

Several teams also raised cash via a ‘blackout’ - a card which numerous team names printed on them which, once all taken for a donation, a square is rubbed off to reveal the winning team. Whoever picked that team won a cash amount with all other monies donated to the fund.

Via this method, the under-10 Yellows and under-9 Oranges both raised £100, the under-12 Reds and under-8 Purples raised £50 and the Gosport Ladies team raised £60.
