Gosport boss Molyneaux looking to ‘get back on the horse’ against Steve Claridge’s Salisbury

Lee Molyneaux believes Gosport Borough's Southern League Premier South clash against Salisbury at Privett Park on Tuesday (7.45pm) couldn't have come at a better time.

After their 3-0 defeat at high-flying Chesham, Borough welcome the chance to get back on the winning track against a side managed by ex-Gosport striker Steve Claridge.

Borough have two home games in five days - Farnborough visit this weekend - and Molyneaux is targeting a maximum points haul.

'I am really glad we have got this game because there is nothing better than a quick chance get back on the horse after falling off,' he stated.

'Our next two games are at home and are both winnable.

'We lost narrowly at Salisbury in the second game of the season and know they are a side that likes to play football.

'Both teams know each other well so it could be a real battle of wits.

'If we can win our two home games this week then it can propel us to within touching distance of the play-offs.

'Our home performances have been good.

'Having won our last two games at home, we must look to keep that good form going.

'It was unlike us to concede three goals at Chesham.

'Once they scored their second goal, however, we were left chasing the game.

'We are eight points adrift of the play-off places and it is all very tight with a lot of teams going for it.

'If you can take points off the teams above and around you then it almost counts as double.

'Not only do you enhance your own chances, you damage those of your rivals.'

Borough may look to restore the experienced trio of Mike Carter, Rory Williams and Dan Strugnell to the starting line-up. All three were on the bench at Chesham.

He accepts it will be equally tough at Bashley.

'Our hosts have hit a decent run of form and only lost narrowly to Alresford at the weekend,' said Catlin
