But Kenny Jackett is convinced the winger can shine following a low-key start to his Fratton Park loan.

A knee problem unconnected with his half-time substitution against Shrewsbury has claimed the 20-year-old.

The injury setback is a blow to Green in his ongoing battle to break into a winning Blues side not short of in-form attacking talent.

The winger made his Pompey bow in a 4-0 Checkatrade Trophy win over Gillingham '“ earning a penalty for Brett Pitman to convert in the process.

In the absence of Ronan Curtis, he was handed a maiden league appearance against the Shrews last weekend '“ only to be substituted at the break.

David Wheeler replaced him on that occasion as Jackett's men improved in the second half of a match which finished 1-1.

Now Green has been sidelined through injury as he strives to make an impact.

Jackett said: '˜I don't know the extend of Andre's injury to be honest with you, it's early days.

'˜He can just feel something at the back of his knee which is going to keep him out of this weekend.

'˜We will assess it over the next 48 hours.

'˜Against Plymouth we had to make three subs in the first half through injury, so that stopped him coming on.

'˜Then he played on the Tuesday night in a great 4-0 win over Gillingham and next started on the Saturday against Shrewsbury and was substituted.

'˜That was through no real fault of his own, things just needed to change in the second half and it was unfortunate that he was one of those that had to come off.

'˜He has only been here for a couple of weeks and has had a good taste of it early on.

'˜He's had some game time and seen the division.

'˜But he is more than capable of doing very, very well for us.

'˜It's early days for him at the moment and hopefully he gets over this injury pretty quickly.

'˜We just have to work with him, encourage him and give him every chance to settle down and produce his best for us.'
