Hampshire Premier Leaguers Locks Heath plan to further strengthen during lockdown

Locks Heath assistant manager Jon Whitfield revealed moves are being made to bring in 'two or three' new additions during the suspension of the Hampshire Premier League Senior Division season.

Heath sit second in the table as the country enters a nationwide lockdown and Whitfield believes some fresh faces can help consolidate a superb start to the campaign when football resumes.

Jaydan Williams and Tyler Burns have bolstered Locks and brought added squad depth in recent weeks.

And after a 1-0 defeat to Fleetlands on Wednesday in their last game before the month-long suspension, Whitfield feels there is no better time to bring in the further additions.

'Yes, it is (a chance to strengthen),' he declared. ‘We’ve got our targets.

'We’ve got a couple of people that might be coming in.

‘We’ve got a couple of players that we have already signed that are waiting to get themselves fit now. These next four weeks will be perfect for that.

‘We’re expecting possibly one or two more to come in during this closed four weeks.

‘Tyler was signed on at Horndean but we’ve brought him in.

‘Jaydan was signed on at Baffins a couple of years ago. He’s been working in Spain so he’s come back and we’ve brought him in.

‘It’s an offensive player and a quick winger so two areas that we needed to strengthen.

‘It’s not that we haven’t got players there doing the job already but it’s always nice to have a bit of competition.'

Burns was a regular for US Portsmouth in 2018/19, making 33 league and cup starts.

Perry Easton's penalty five minutes from time gave Fleetlands victory in midwek.

It ended a run of six successive Locks victories in all competitions.

Yet, Whitfield wants all involved with the club to take time to reflect on a start they should be proud of during lockdown.

‘We’re ahead of schedule, we’re ahead of where we thought we were going to be,' he added.

'We think we’re probably maybe two or three players light of where we want to be.

'But we’re proud of what we’re doing and where we are at the moment.

‘We’ll push on again.'
