Pompey’s 2008 FA Cup-winning manager has spent nearly a year out of the game after leaving QPR on medical grounds in February 2015.

But he has agreed a boardroom position with Southern League division one south and west side Wimborne.

Redknapp has been a patron of the Dorset side for a long time and is a regular attendee at The Cuthbury, although the move represents a big coup for the club.

Returning Magpies chairperson Paula Henley managed Redknapp’s grandson Bobbie’s Moordown under-eights side and is understood to have convinced the former Blues boss to come on board.

Wimborne, who entertain Evesham this weekend, have also secured 28-day youth loans for Pompey Academy duo Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kaleem Haitham, who are expected to be involved in the action.
