The exciting U's prospect has featured just once for Paul Doswell's side since arriving at the club in early December.

That sole appearance, n an impressive 3-0 National League South victory at Ebbsfleet on December 12, was the last time he was involved in a match-day squad.

Since then, the 19-year-old was forced to sit out the two FA Trophy triumphs against Bracknell Town and Braintree due to having played in the tournament for Biggleswade while on loan.

He missed Hawks’ NL South win against Hungerford on January 2 because of a positive coronavirus test.

He is cup-tied for the club’s next game - against Altrincham in the Trophy next weekend - leaving just four league matches until his loan is up at the end of this month.

However, Doswell is keen to explore the possibility of keeping the prospect at the club until the end of the season.

‘Leon hasn’t had the benefit and Oxford haven't had the benefit of him playing the 15 games or so they’d have hoped,’ the manager explained.

‘I’m hopeful that Oxford can extend the loan until the end of the season, I think Oxford would see the logic in that for him.

'I’ve got to say, I’ll think he’ll be a big player for us.

‘He’s massively frustrated, he’s actually a (Covid) positive test for us as well at the moment.

‘He’s not been really ill but he’s been ill. I’ve spoken to him and he’s very, very frustrated.'

Chambers-Parillon's solid showing impressed Doswell at Ebbsfleet.

The midfielder, who has featured twice for his parent club in the EFL Trophy this term, was 'loving' life as he settled into his new surroundings.

Now Doswell is hoping he might get a chance to get used to them for a little longer.

'He loved the Ebbsfleet game, he was very good in it, he loved the training and the professionalism of the club,' added Doswell.

‘But he’s played one game in nearly five weeks.

'The worst case for him is he’ll have three games for us and have to go back.

‘But, like I said, the reason Oxford wanted him to come to us was to get some proper National League football.'
