Only two seasons ago, Hayter was plying his trade in League One with Yeovil, but the veteran striker will be the man tasked with firing the Westleigh Park side out of the Ryman League premier division this term.

And the 37-year-old, who holds the record for the fastest Football League hat-trick, was at the treble once more against the Rams in a one-sided contest.

Hayter, who completed his hat-trick with a penalty after earlier missing from the spot, was joined on the scoresheet by George Barker and Bradley Tarbuck.

Howard Neighbour netted Petersfield’s consolation.

Elsewhere, Gosport Borough ran out 2-1 winners at Godalming Town.
