That figure has been boosted by banking £50,000 from ties being screened live.

The club received £37,500 as a result of the second round tie at Marine being shown live on BT Sport. They had previously received £12,500 for having their first round tie with Cray Valley shown live across BBC digital platforms.

Hawks picked up £3,375 for beating Horsham in the second qualifying round, rising to £5,625 for easing past Chatham in the third, £9,375 for beating Bath away in the fourth and £16,972 for the victory over Cray.

They would have banked a further £25,500 had they beaten Marine, but instead picked up a losers’ cheque for £8,500 - taking their total FA Cup earnings this term to £94,472.

That’s the second most lucrative in Hawks’ history - after the 2007/08 FA Cup run - and could not have come at a better time with elite level clubs having been forced to play behind closed doors so far.

That is all set to change on Wednesday when Hawks host Hemel Hempstead Town.

Boss Paul Doswell said all attention must now focus on making up lost ground in the National League South promotion race.

Hawks have only played five games, due to their cup run and Covid-related postponements.

‘It’s now a question of how we react on Wednesday,’ said Doswell after losing at Marine.

‘The only positive thing to come out of today is that we can now concentrate on the league.

‘We’ve got a massive amount of catching up to do.

‘Now we’re out of the cup there won’t be the press attention and we can go back to our National League South obscurity and concentrate on trying to get into the top seven.

‘That’s what we need to do.’
