Ipswich emerge as rivals for defender

Ipswich have emerged as rivals in Pompey's pursuit of Kieron Freeman, according to reports.

Paul Cook is keen on bringing in the right-back from Sheffield United.

But the East Anglian Daily Times say Mick McCarthy wants the 24-year-old at Portman Road.

The Championship side have already taken Adam Webster from Fratton Park this summer, in a deal worth Matt Clarke plus £700,000.

The former Nottingham Forest trainee joined Pompey on loan in January and made seven appearances, with three coming off the bench.
