Tom Naylor and Ben Thompson have arrived to supplement Ben Close and bolster Jackett's central-midfield options.

The Blues boss also has Dion Donohue approaching a return from his latest illness and groin problem.

Rose and May were not among the 19 players who travelled to Doncaster on Saturday, instead remaining on the south coast.

And with Friday's loan deadline looming, Jackett would consider a temporary arrangement.

'˜At the moment we haven't got too many injuries, which is good, although it doesn't always stay like that throughout the course of the season.

'˜We constantly talk to them and review the situation, but it doesn't mean we are overstocked with players necessarily.

Rose is contracted to Fratton Park until the end of this season after signing an extension in March.

May penned a new two-year deal in June, keeping him at Pompey until the summer of 2020.
