'They had a player sent off on the stroke of half-time and we went out and buried them.

'We just went about things the right way and controlled matters from start to finish.

'Brockenhurst just fell apart and we are getting good at putting teams away when we get the chance.

Fareham have struck 26 times in eight games, two more than Hamworthy who have played a game less.

The Reds have netted 14 times in their last two home matches, having previously thumped Portland 8-1.

The home side took charge in the early stages and were finally rewarded with the opening goal on 31 minutes by Calum Benfield.

Collecting a through ball, Benfield left the defence for dead with his quick turn before slotting the ball low just inside the left-hand post.

Having got their noses in front, Fareham then proceeded to concede an equaliser.

Goalkeeper Dan Kempson produced a good save but with the home defence standing rooted, Jude Nwachukwu scored from the rebound.

From the restart Fareham's task was made easier when the visitors were reduced to ten-men after their captain Will Tickle received a straight red after clashing with Curt Robbins.

The Reds made sure they capitalised on their numerical advantage after the break.

On 57 minutes Charlie Cooper stole the ball off the full back on the right touchline mid-way inside the Brockenhurst half, and drove towards the area.

His cross found Calum Benfield who sent a perfectly-placed shot into the top left-hand corner for a great finish.

Ten minutes later a Brockenhurst free-kick was picked off by the impressive George Davis.

This was followed by some lovely interlinking play between Robbins and Casey Scott-Bartlett, the latter getting free to pull the ball back for sub Tom Settle to score from the edge of the area.

Fareham were now rampant, completely camping in the Brockenhurst half.

On 79 minutes Davis played in Josh Benfield for the fourth goal and almost immediately Calum Benfield completed his hat-trick.

Six minutes from the end Settle swung a corner in under the bar. When the Brockdefence could only half clear, Archie Willcox acrobatically hooked the ball back over his shoulder into the net.
