The leaders remain just a point above promotion rivals Wigan and Blackburn, who play in the FA Cup and league respectively on Monday.

Rotherham, who registered a sixth successive win, took the lead just before the break following a close-range effort from Richard Wood and that goal proved enough to strengthen his side’s spot in the play-offs.

Scunthorpe remain fifth after hitting back twice to take a point from a 2-2 draw at home to Northampton.

Chris Long’s close-range header put the Cobblers in front after 13 minutes as he claimed his ninth goal of the season before Funso Ojo equalised just after the half-hour mark.

Midfielder John-Joe O’Toole headed the visitors in front for the second time after 57 minutes but they were pegged back again as Murray Wallace headed Josh Morris’ free-kick home 20 minutes later.

Charlton moved into the play-offs thanks to a 2-1 victory at MK Dons with goals from Ahmed Kashi and Josh Magennis before Kieran Agard reduced the deficit as the hosts remain in trouble – just five points off the bottom.

Defender Sonny Bradley’s header on the brink of half-time clinched maximum points as Plymouth edged a 1-0 victory at Oxford to sit one point off the play-offs.

Burnley defender Tom Anderson recorded a brace after Alex Kiwomya had scored his first goal for the club with the opener as Doncaster eased to a 3-0 win at home to Fleetwood.

Wimbledon moved out of the relegation zone as a late Joe Pigott header handed them a massive 1-0 victory over Bristol Rovers and the match between Gillingham and Walsall ended goalless.
