McAllister demands another '˜man's performance' from Gosport Borough
Craig McAllister wants another 'man's performance' from Gosport Borough when they travel to Frome Town in the Southern League premier division south.Â
The Privett Park side ended their four-game losing run with a 3-2 win against Poole Town on Tuesday.Â
McAllister was delighted with the commitment his troops displayed and insists a repeat at lowly Frome can earn them another three points.
The Borough boss believes his side can use their success against the Dolphins to kick-start their season.
'˜I'm really pleased for the players because they deserved it,' said McAllister.
'˜I've never ever questioned the players' effort but that was a so-called 'man's performance'.
'˜We kept asking for a response after recent defeats and against Poole they produced one.
'˜We showed some character coming back like that because we were very disappointed after last Saturday's defeat.Â
'˜We wanted the game to come quickly like this and we started well with good movement of the ball.
'Yes, we made hard work of it but we definitely deserved it.
'˜There was a belief and the players showed the fans they are a good side.
'˜But we've done nothing yet except get a win that is something to build on.
'˜I looked at the players in the dressing room after the game and asked them if they were tired.
'˜They all said 'yes'Â and I told them that's how they should feel after a game.Â
'˜They should give everything and that's what they did.
'Now we need to build from this and hopefully go on a bit of a winning run.'
After a turbulent few seasons, including several winding-up orders and managerial changes, there is now stability at Privett Park.
McAllister is determined to help Borough regain their National League South status they held previously.
The manager added: '˜We are desperate for this football club to do well because it has had so much bad press and we need to get it back to where it belongs.
'˜It will take time and patience which is difficult because we want success quickly '“Â everyone does.'
'˜I am not expecting to win every week but if we keep performing like that, putting the effort in, then we will win more games than we lose.
