In a thrilling shoot out, Joe Briggs finally stepped up to give the visitors a 4-3 verdict after Moneys keeper Jake Hallett had pulled off three saves.

The two sides were deadlocked at 2-2 after 90 minutes with Steve Hutchings grabbing both the visitors’ goals.

It wasn't surprising that the game went to penalties after FOUR had been awarded during normal time - Aylesbury missing two of them.

Moneyfields manager Dave Carter admitted it wasn't great for his blood pressure.

'Every time we got in front we let them back in it,' he said.

'When they missed the first two in the shoot-out we thought it was in the bag, but then we missed our next couple.

'To be fair to the players they kept going in a good old fashioned cup-tie between two teams that wanted to win.

'We played well against strong opponents and this should give us confidence moving forward.

'Our goalkeeper made some fantastic saves including three in the shoot-out.

'Importantly, we are in the hat for the next round.'

Hutchings converted his spot-kick but fortunately for the visitors Aylesbury could only convert one of their three.

The home side settled well and Ty Deacon dragged a shot wide after a Sonny French effort had been blocked by the defence.

On 18 minutes Max Hercules also fired wide following some clever trickery on the edge of the 18-yard box.

Moneyfields began to get a foothold in the game, enjoying greater possession.

However, it took a great defensive header from captain Sam Pearce to keep the Ducks at bay as the home side resumed their ascendancy.

The home side had their best chance two minutes before the break when Hallett denied Lee Stobbs with his legs.

Aylesbury started the second period strongly and Hallet was forced to push a French effort wide.

Nine minutes after the restart Moneyfields went ahead through Hutchings’ penalty.

Within five minutes, however, a defensive error allowed Stobbs to lob Hallet and level.

Moneyfields regained the lead on 68 minutes, Hutchings notching his second of the night with Conor Bailey providing the assist.

The visitors had a huge let off 12 minutes from the end after conceding a penalty for handball.

Hallet, diving to his right, saved Ty Deacon’s spot-kick to keep his side in front.

There was nothing he could do, though, when Aylesbury were awarded a second penalty six minutes from time.

Ollie Hogg, taking over the spot-kick duties, crashed his shot into the roof of the net.

Remarkably, the hosts were awarded another penalty on 87 minutes - but Hogg blasted over the bar.
