‘It looks as if we got a pasting, but that definitely wasn’t the case.’

A ‘soft’ penalty allowed Moneys to take an interval lead after Harry Frost was penalised for a challenge on Chad Cornwell.

Cornwell dispatched the resultant spot-kick.

‘Most of our players - except one - didn’t think it was a penalty,’ said Bishop.

‘Toby Wilson was the one who did, and perhaps he was right and we were all wrong.

‘The disappointing thing is when I asked the ref at half-time what the penalty was given for - a push, a foul - he couldn’t tell me.’

Moneys doubled their lead shortly after the restart through Kieran Clark and Dan Penfold added a late third.

Moneys now travel to either Harvest Home or Chamberlayne, who meet this weekend at Front Lawn, in the last 16.

Hayling are back in action on Tuesday at home to Senior Division strugglers Chamberlayne.

Striker George Gregory - who started against his former club in the HPL Cup tie - is out after suffering a broken hand.

In addition, defender Liam Buxton is going to take time out to recover from injuries.

‘He’s a very good player,’ said Bishop, ‘but he’s been riddled with injuries in the last 18 months and he’s going to give his body time to heal.’

Chamberlayne arrive at Hayling College still searching for their opening win, having drawn four and lost four so far.

They were beaten 5-2 at Liss at the weekend.
