Hampshire FA have provided a welcome boost to the successful Portsmouth Powerchair team.
Through the county football association charity – The Community Trust – they have purchased a Powerchair for the team.
It’s a vital addition with the club progressing well in the South East Regional League and aiming to compete on the national stage.
Currently, they have 10 members but are confident they can reach more players in the county who are looking to get involved.
Stephen Baxter, manager of Portsmouth Powerchair, said: ‘The new chair, kindly paid for by the Hampshire FA Community Trust, is ready for use.
‘We have had a very good year, with more players becoming involved and our promotion to regional league division one.
‘The performance of the team at the last regional meeting shows we can compete against national league teams and provides a massive confidence boost.
‘We are now looking forward to more fun, progress and competition.’
The chair cost £5,000 and was presented to the club by Hampshire FA trustee and deputy chairman of the trust, James Pearson, along with county development manager and associate member of the Trust, Sacha Nicholas.
Pearson said: ‘We are delighted to have been able to support this club and we hope to continue our connection with the club as well as other such deserving projects.’
